Is Village Administrative Officer a Public Information Officer (PIO)? This question arise to many people in Tamilnadu. In revenue department a VAO is public information officer or not? Since he is holding a separate government officer in village representing the government. State information commission on 30.08.2019 has given a clear order in this regard. I have attached the pdf of this order copy declaring VAO not PIO. The commission headed by State Information Commissioner clearly stated that Head quarter Deputy Thasilar is information officer in Taluk officer.   Order from State Information Commission  

 Revenue department was the parent department for all Government departments. Its is headed by District Revenue officer (DRO) at District Level. Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) at Divisional Level. Tahsildar at Taluk Lelvel. Each Taluk is divided into Firka headed by Revenue Inspector. Each Firka consists several revenue villages headed by Village Administrative Officer or VAO.
